The @BackstreetBoys are nominated for a Grammy and we have never been prouder

Yes, you read that right. In 2018, the Backstreet Boys are nominated for a G.R.A.M.M.Y. A.W.A.R.D.

Seriously, has this year been a flashback to 1999 or what?

Grammy nominations were released Friday morning and wouldn’t you know it, the Backstreet Boys are nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart.”

2002 Grammy Awards

Where was I when I found out? Sitting at work, having just gotten there and was watching the “Avengers: End Game” movie trailer for the first time. Talk about a river of emotions, right?

The fact that the Backstreet Boys were nominated for a Grammy in their 25th year as a group makes me SO proud. Seriously, I’ve never, ever been prouder to be a Backstreet Boys fan as I have this year. Finally, the music industry is realizing what we’ve known – the talent that these five guys have – and are finally recognizing them for it.

The Grammy Awards are so fickle. Florida Georgia Line, who have been topping the charts since 2012, 2013, just earned their first Grammy nomination today with their hit single, “Meant To Be,” with BeBe Rexha. The song has been topping the charts for the majority of the year and it was snubbed from all of the major categories.

Fall Out Boy received their SECOND nomination EVER this year after being first nominated for an award in 2006.

So really, the fact that the boys were nominated this year is AMAZING.

However, they are up against some stiff competition with the Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake song “Say Something” and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s hit “Shallow” from “A Star Is Born.” Don’t get me started on Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You.” Chris Stapleton has been the favorite at all of the country awards the last two or three years. I don’t understand it. I don’t really care for him. I have friends who do like him and I get their respect for him, he’s an amazing songwriter, but … eh.

But with the Grammys, sometimes it’s the underdog that wins. This year, let’s hope its the Backstreet Boys.

I believe this Grammy nomination is the perfect ending to an amazing 25th anniversary for the boys. It’s something they’ve been working towards for the past few years, the real big comeback in the industry and not just the fans hearts. They’ll always be in our hearts.

Now they’re sneaking their way into everybody’s hearts all over again.
