QTopia was amazing. It was perfect that my favorite local pop station brought my favorite artists, Backstreet Boys, to my town, but also brought some other good acts
I’ll go ahead and talk about the bad part of the show first to get it out of the way.
Flo Rida started out good, but ended kind of badly. Don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of his songs, and he had the energy of a toddler on stage, but he disappointed me twice.
The first time was when champagne was thrown all over my friends and I. I had a 20 minute drive home and my hair was drenched with cheap champagne. You don’t do that when the Backstreet Boys are about to come on stage.
Secondly? When he started to perform his biggest hit, “Low,” he brought out a bunch of girls on stage. Sure, that sounds normal, right? However, there were girls of all ages – little girls, young tweens, young women and … quite possibly a stripper or porn star looking group with her ass hanging out of her pants, dancing all provocatively in front of this little girls. It wasn’t like she was on the other end of the stage – she was RIGHT beside them.
I was disgusted.
I turned my back to the stage for the majority of the rest of his set until the Backstreet Boys came out.

Obviously, Backstreet Boys was my favorite part of the show. It was a mix of the Vegas stage show, but it didn’t matter to me. The boys were there in my town, 20 minutes from my apartment, and I could see them and sleep in my own bed that night. It’s an AMAZING feeling.
And maybe it’s because I was excited and just in a BSB drought (although I shouldn’t have been – hell, I went to the “Crossroads” filming), but I was way into the concert – dancing, singing, having fun with my friends.
It had been too long since I saw a real Backstreet Boys show with my best friend Julia. I had never seen a BSB show with Barb, or Carrie or Andie or Jackie. It was just so good to have friends around me, enjoying the same thing.
The funniest part of the show was during “The Call.” Each of the guys had a girl dancing with them as they sat on a chair all sexy-like and Howie, poor Howito, was all along. He didn’t have a girl.
Hopefully, the guys saw how much Atlanta loves them and they won’t skip Brian’s town on the next tour. (They didn’t come on the second leg of the “In A World Like This” tour.)
My other favorite part of the night? Fergie. I’ll admit, I’ve never been a big fan of Fergie. I was, however, a huge fan during the “Kids Incorporated” and Wild Orchid days, but that was totally different than the Fergie the world knows now. However, she was pretty amazing and I think I’m a bigger fan now.
“Big Girls Don’t Cry” was always my favorite song by her and I loved her performance of it. She came over to our side of the stage at one point singing it and I just felt like she was singing it to me after everything I’ve been going through lately.
