Happy 10th birthday, “Never Gone” (@BackstreetBoys)

by | Jun 14, 2015 | History, Videos | 4 comments

On June 14, 2005, the Backstreet Boys’ fifth album album of new material (fourth in the U.S.) was released after a break where Nick Carter went solo and Brian Littrell started a family. It was the last album that Kevin Richardson was featured on since he left the group almost a year later.

The boys began work on the album in early 2004, working again with old friend Max Martin and other new producers and writers. The boys first performed some of the material from the album in September 2004 at a hurricane benefit concert in Orlando that featured Brooke Hogan and Boyz II Men. That performance inspired the boys’ “Up Close and Personal Tour” that began in March 2005.

The album was supposed to be release in 2004, but due to unknown reasons, it was postponed until June the following year.

Can you believe it’s been 10 years?

In honor of the anniversary, watch a little flashback of the Boys’ performances with AOL as promotion for the album’s release.
